VeggieTales and Jihad

Apparently, there are no limits to extreme Islam. This from our military commanders in Baghdad:

al-Qaida has warned street vendors not to place tomatoes beside cucumbers because the vegetables are different genders, Col. David Sutherland said.

Oh dear. What does this mean for Bob and Larry?

P&G Charmin Toilet Paper 1957-2007

I just can’t resist piling on and making fun of the wisdom of Sheryl Crow and Laurie David. In the midst of their global warming biodiesel bus tour they have allowed the Washington Post to publish portions of their tour’s blog. What luck for us!

Ms. Crow enthusiastically proposes:

a limitation be put on how many squares of toilet paper can be used in any one sitting. Now, I don’t want to rob any law-abiding American of his or her God-given rights, but I think we are an industrious enough people that we can make it work with only one square per restroom visit, except, of course, on those pesky occasions where 2 to 3 could be required.

I can only imagine that TP manufacturers would very soon be competing to see who can place their perforations farthest apart. But wait there’s more! She also has a prototype design for a “dining sleeve,” a removable fabric sleeve used instead of a paper napkin during meals. It seems that prudenw, commenting on the Post piece, has the ultimate solution:

Why not use the sleeve for toilet paper as well as for a dinner napkin?

Celebrate Life!

I know, I know. The focus is on the horror of the Virginia Tech massacre but something enormous happened today not far from Blacksburg in Washington, D.C. The Supreme Court of the United States upheld the ban on partial birth abortion that had been signed into law by President Bush way back in 2003. This is a profound decision, a marvelous victory for innocent life and cause for great celebration even in the midst of mourning.
