Kenai Fishing
We’re back from a couple days on the Kenai Peninsula fishing for reds. We dipnetted the high tide on Monday morning. It was a dreary and rainy and the fishing wasn’t much better. Only one very large sockeye caught by Jen.
Lunched with our friend Hannele in Kenai. Then, off to the Broyles to fish from the bank the regular way with a rod and reel. Very fun and much more productive; came home with six very large reds.
Fish are in!
The second run of sockeye (red) salmon is almost a week late but they are here now! Tomorrow, we’re off to the mouth of the Kenai to dipnet some fish. Our family has a permit for 65 fish. That’s a lot of fish and, hopefully, we’ll be able to nab that many. The trick is being there when there is not a commercial opening at the same time.
July Weekend
Haven’t had much news to tell about lately. Plenty of cool and drizzle. But it brightened up over the weekend and we had a great time in the sun in Willow. I have a very red face to show for it. Our friends, Jenna and Geoff’s wedding is Friday and they have a load of family here from Ft. Lauderdale. Our lakefront was packed with a motorhome and a camper and a ski boat.
We had a great time on the tubes. John has a new nickname, Skip Rock, for the way he skips across the water when he slips off the tube.
There’s a 2nd YouTube video and more photos on flickr.
We’re keeping an eye on the fishing reports hoping to head to Kenai for a day of dipnetting. I think we’re allowed 65 salmon with our permit. That’s a lot of fish, if we can catch them.
Some Day I’ll Get a Real iPhone
Check out the hand-knit iPhone at daddytypes.com. They’re not available in the Great Land yet because a ATT has no cell service here. But soon they will…
